Matt Damon claims he did the casting for two 'Batman' movies - Hollywood News
The actor tried to play Robin in Tim Burton's first installment and later in "Batman Forever."
Matt Damon came close to playing Robin - The Dark Knight's inseparable assistant - on the big screen twice. In an interview with Josh Horowitz for the 'Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor revealed that he auditioned in 1989 for the role in Tim Burton's Batman (1989) and years later for Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever (1995).
The first time I did the casting for Robin, we went to New York in 1987, or maybe it was 1988. I was 16 or 17 years old at the time. I remember we had no one to reply to us, and it didn't seem like you were reading a scene with Batman. It was all so secret that you could have been interpreting the dialogue from any other movie.

The role was eventually removed from the 1989 film, but it appeared in early drafts of the script, to which Damon never had access. Later, in 1993, the actor did screen tests to play Robin in Batman Forever, although eventually, the job went to Chris O'Donnell.
Chris O'Donnell already had the role, but they were negotiating his salary. The studio put pressure on him and his agents, casting other actors. They wanted Chris, but for a certain price. I remember at that stage in my career, you would go in and read, even if you knew you weren't going to get the job.
Damon now finds himself in a totally different position, being one of the most acclaimed and sought-after actors in the industry. The actor is currently on the billboard for A Matter of Blood, a drama directed by director Tom McCarthy. He can also see him in Final Duel, in which he meets again with his friend Ben Affleck.
In these interviews with Horowitz, Damon also tells the story of how he turned down a role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, without revealing who he would play. It should be remembered that the British director dispensed with the figure of Robin in his entire trilogy, except for the surprise that he prepared for the closing of The Dark Knight: The Legend Rises. The masked Bruce Wayne will return to the big screen soon - this time with the features of Robert Pattinson - in The Batman.
