It is not the first time that a sixth installment of the franchise has been discussed. Marshall acknowledged in 2016 that he had spoken to Damon and Greengrass about continuing and that their response was, "If you come up with a good story, we'll think about it."

Damon also commented on his possible return in the future: “It would have to be a pretty incredible story for us all to come back.
