Are 'Tenet' and 'Origin' connected? John David Washington responds

The actor stars in the new Christopher Nolan alongside Robert Pattinson. The film is expected to hit theaters on July 17.

A Christopher Nolan film is synonymous with theories and with his next Tenet project, there is something for everyone. From those that indicate that Robert Pattinson plays Nolan himself to those that affirm that the events of this new story take place in the same universe as Origen. Precisely the latter has been spoken by the protagonist John David Washington, who has answered the question of whether these two films are connected. And his words are ... at least, curious.

"I would say that Tenet is from the Origin political family," begins in Esquire. “They are connected by marriage. They get together for Thanksgiving, family barbecues, that sort of thing. Apart from that, one lives in Europe and the other in Compton ”, he adds.

Washington's statements have various readings. On the one hand, they could mean that they are connected only because their creator is Nolan. On the other, they coincide in some character or aspect of the plot. Many of those who point out that both stories could be set in the same universe indicates the end of the second Tenet trailer as the reason to think so. The setting in which the characters from Pattinson and Washington walk and talk resembles the place where Jake (Leonardo DiCaprio) explains to Ariadne (Ellen Page) how dreams work.

Washington has also spoken about what it was like to shoot an action movie with Nolan and the actor acknowledges that it was an exhausting experience. “There were times when I couldn't get out of bed. Even a couple of weeks already shooting I was worried, I was very aware that I was not going to be able to finish it and I didn't want to tell anyone because it was like: ‘Oh. I will die for this ... ’ This movie deserves it. Even if I break something. I am not going to say anything to anyone until this is over, ”he concludes.

Tenet is expected to hit theaters on July 17, but Nolan fans will have to watch for possible changes in case the coronavirus crisis causes its delay. The film features Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Elizabeth Debicki in its cast. On these lines, do not miss the trailer.
